We were put in contact with Róisín, a Transition Year student, about a project she was working on. Her teacher was astounded with her work and thought it needed to be shared with the world, and wow, we think the same! We hopped into action and contacted Róisín because we needed to know why she created this project and how she felt about “The Secrets of Teen Girls”.

So Róisín, can you tell us a little about you and your work?

Hi guys! Sure. My name is Róisín Curran, I’m 15 and in Transition Year.

I saw a set of photos by Maddie Billings with a similar “teen confessional” stance and was really interested! In her photos, she told the stories of traumatic events that teens had gone through.

I wanted to change it up a bit and try to show the heavy mental baggage that a lot of young women feel. This is why I asked peers of mine to send me the “secrets” they feel they have to carry around on a daily basis. I very much admire the girls for doing that because I think the photos can make other teens feel less alone if they can relate to any of the confessions.

How creative and powerful is Róisín’s message? We think it is amazing and wanted to show you some close-ups of her work.
